Hoping For A Better America

Ask not what your country can do for you.” “Ask what you can do for your country.” -John F. Kennedy

Mr. President that’s what we need to ask ourselves at this time. Where are we headed as a nation? Are we headed in the right direction? There isn’t a lot of encouraging news these days. There is forty year high in inflation. Gas is absolutely outrageous, and every single item you buy is through the roof. There is still war raging overseas, and we still haven’t haven’t completely gotten a worldwide pandemic under control. Just over a year ago things weren’t anywhere near this bad. There is a reason for this. Shouldn’t there be some type of accountability taking place? Are we holding the right people, in the right places responsible? I don’t think we are. The leadership in this country has failed us in every way. There are elections right around the corner. Yes, midterms are quickly approaching. We can make a difference at the ballot box. There must be change in our current leadership, and the leadership that isn’t up for election or re-election can still be held accountable. The two-year term politicians should pay the price for where we are right now. Many of those are the biggest supporters of those serving four-year terms. I don’t think there’s any doubt who I’m referring to. This has been a sad, sad

representation of our democracy.

Think about what the world sees in our leadership. America is the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. We certainly aren’t portraying that these days. I can’t think of a time where there has been so much weakness conveyed. There is a lot of evil out there all over this world. I wonder what they see when they look at our country now. Is there that same reverence? Is there that fear of what consequences may come? I’m not advocating for war in any way. I just don’t want there to be any thoughts that we won’t defend our allies out there. Ukraine, for example, should have our full support. They have taken a heavy toll. They bear the burden of oppression. We have levied sanctions, yes, but has it been enough? We’ve provided ammo and equipment, but has it made a difference? Only those on the ground could answer that question, but I wonder how things would look in our nation and abroad if we had different leadership. I can’t be the only American out there wondering that.

All of this is to say that I want things to get better. I want to see change…change for the good…change that echos worldwide., and it starts with us. It starts with our leadership. Are you better off now than one year ago? Is the world as a whole better off? I know it can be. I just can’t see it right now. Ultimately only God can conquer what’s going on. We need to go to Him daily for guidance. I pray for Him to take control and to start to change things for the better.
